About us

Company Profile

At Mariner7 we are passionate about designing software that makes it easier for organisations to bring out the best in their people. Our design philosophy firstly directs our energy into using technology to remove barriers that make great performance difficult to achieve.

We then focus on creating software that people find compelling - software that it is powerful, friendly, easy to use and and quick to show its benefits. Software that people want to use.

The next requirement is flexibility and customisation. We build software that is designed to be tailored to the requirements of each part of your business. This means different business units can have different types of objectives and review structures, different review dates and different language to match their business requirements. Reporting can also be customised so you can track the performance of key people, teams or strategic initiatives.

Removing the barriers, creating a friendly tool that people want to use, tailoring it to your organisation and making it possible for managers to coach are the critical ingredients required for people to perform differently. It brings out the best in them. And that is what Mariner7 is about.

Our Name

The inspiration for our name comes from the space probe Mariner 7 which was launched by NASA in 1969 to travel to Mars. Mariner 7 carried advanced technology computers that could be reprogrammed from earth during the mission and the probes were able to transmit data at a rate of almost 2000 times that of earlier Mariner missions. The mission objective was to provide surface images of greater quality and quantity than had previously been available to give a more complete picture of the Martian surface and allow planning for future missions in search of life on Mars.

In transit to Mars contact with Mariner 7 was temporarily lost due to a battery failure. After a 7-hour silence, contact was restored, but it soon became evident that the instrument that directed the television cameras had been damaged and was no longer functioning. If the cameras could not be directed the mission would be a failure. With Mars close at hand, a solution was needed quickly. For the first time in the history of space exploration the system was reprogrammed from earth and Mariner 7 cameras began relaying images of Mars. This restoration of the imaging system was a direct result of the leading edge skills developed by the mission operators when they had flexible computer technology to support them. The mission was a complete success.

The pursuit of breakthrough goals on new frontiers can transform our capability. To successfully deliver on these goals requires technology enabled tools and an absolute commitment to deliver what was promised. This combination will result in the development of previously unimagined new skills and unprecedented success.
